Backed by a vivacious band (with some stellar horns, to boot), Leticia Rodriguez Garza, the niece of legendary Latin vocalist Eva Garza, pays impressive tribute to Eva with “Sagüita Al Bate”, the title cut off of her forthcoming EP. Eva Garza is notable for being the first Latin American artist to have her own radio show on CBS. During the second World War, she was bestowed the title “Sweetheart of the Americas”. Leticia lives up to her aunt’s impressive musical reputation on “Sagüita Al Bate”, a tune of Eva’s.
Leticia says to PopMatters about the song, “Sagüita Al Bate is Americana inclusivo; rootsy, rhythmic, passionate, begging to be danced to and definitely Latin.”
Sagüita Al Bate EP is out on August 16th.
