It's never out of season for a quality slice of summery beach pop, as the flute-accented "Pool Guard" attests.

Winter is coming—as are the numerous Game of Thrones memes that pop up once this realizations starts hitting the public—but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy an unabashed bit of beach pop. Such is especially the case for the band Inspired and the Sleep, a rock outfit based out of San Diego, where the beach is but a hop and a skip away. The band’s latest tune, “Pool Guard”, is coated in summertime nostalgia, and its cheeky flute line brings to mind images of the Brady Bunch’s trip to Hawaii.

Here’s what the band said to PopMatters about “Pool Guard”: “This particular tune (which came to me particularly fast) is all about setting a scene and evoking an emotion. The meaning is rather apparent, but its written from the observant perspective of community pool lifeguard on duty. It takes me back to memories of summer weekend pool trips with the family.”

“Pool Guard” is one of several tunes that will be available on the American Sole compilation EP, available through Plastic Fish Records on October 27th.
