Birmingham/Nashville roots rock ensemble Banditos gathered in late 2016 outside of Austin at the Plum Creek Sound Studios in Dripping Springs, TX and produced their upcoming sophomore album Visionland, which releases on June 23rd via Bloodshot Records. Banditos are truly a Southern band, blending classic Southern genres like country, soul, blues, and rock ‘n’ roll while adding in a bit of garage rock stomp and punk energy. For this latest album, the group stretches their wings as they explore the nature of reality versus altered states, so naturally, pyschedelic rock is making its way into the Banditos’ sound.
“Fine Fine Day” is the new single from Visionland and it sees Banditos go for all out toe-tapping, head-bobbing garage rock on a song that explores virtual reality. Band member Corey Parsons says that their “good friend and videographer Schuyler Howie came up with the idea for the video. The whole virtual reality concept relates to the lyrical content of the song. We filmed the projector part of the video at Solar Cabin Studios in Nashville and the other parts in Randy’s garage. The actors are four of our good friends. We built all the props ourselves with help from Schuyler and set designer Jack Dawson. We wanted to convey that although the actors are experiencing a range of overwhelming and intense emotions in one reality, they are actually sitting on a dirty floor in some sketchy undisclosed location.”
It’s another fabulous slice of heartfelt music from a group of 20-something musicians who wears their passions on their sleeves, respecting no genre boundaries, and just generally having the times of their lives. Catch Banditos on tour in support of their new album.
