Soma High has enough going for it with Thom Yorke-esque vocals, a few solid grooves and some impressive touring under its belt. However, there’s a derivative quality to the music on Secrets That Didn’t Happen that gets in the way of these fellas really killing it. Surely “Paper Chaser”, “Big Boy Shoes” (terrible title, awesomely dirty riff) and “Lo Fat” go down a storm in the live arena, but here all one can focus on is how much it all sounds like something that you’ve heard before. Too bad, because for a moment or two you really find yourself wanting to rave about these lads. Maybe next time.
