Hurt so good.
When Elvis Presley’s cover of Timi Yuro’s “Hurt” vaulted her status into the realm of legend, people began to examine her back catalogue more carefully. That examination has continued for over five decades and has led to releases and re-releases, though none have been as definitive as The Complete Liberty Singles. This compilation is a collection of 35 tracks released on her singles for Liberty Records and one alternate Italian version of “Hurt”. Each of these tracks possesses a feeling of genuine greatness in their delicate string arrangements and smoky atmospheres. Every single song sounds completely deserving of the single treatment it was originally granted. Horns creep their way in and out for some added pizzazz and the collection is book-ended by two version of “Hurt”, granting it a feeling of complete encapsulation. This compilation is a brilliant portrayal of Yuro and a must-own for any classic soul/R&B fan.
