It would be so easy to overlook Fashions as just another gang of new wave revivalists, but doing so would neglect some serious songwriting skills. The three songs included on the Young Heart EP burst forth with youthful spunk and the crucial talent needed to keep such self-assuredness afloat. It takes Fashions about 15 minutes to run through the most grandiose ‘80s tropes—from synths a-plenty to decadent crooning to elephantine choruses—but what is a tribute to that decade’s sounds without excess? Young Heart almost seems too big and bright for Bandcamp.
