If only you could get an A for effort, or for being so randomly inspired. After you listen to a few of these tracks, it won’t be any shock when it’s revealed that a Gameboy is the main architect erecting them. With such a clumsy lob back to an early ’90s sound (at least, I think that’s what this is — or else, wouldn’t this guy have made use of a PSP?) it is difficult to move through these beats without envisioning clusters of 2D blocks dropping haltingly from the heavens. Though the bass beats throughout the album are consistently heavy — sort of unlike those of an actual Gameboy, they still are reminiscent of the handheld box and its accompanying speakers. “See You Later” and “Stars” emulate vibrancy, but, as on all of the tracks, the sound is highly limited.
