La la la tra la la. It is summer and THIS IS POP! It is not brilliant musically, but it is top-down, driving down the street in short sleeves, glam slam. It is not “unorthodox, unrelenting and innovative!” as the press release says. However, it is cartoon bubblegum pop, cut from the same cloth as Transvision Vamp or, well, Roxette brought up on a diet of only the Cars, Devo, and A Flock of Seagulls. In other words, pop heaven if you were a teenager in the 1980s. It is worth a listen on the strength of the description of the band on their MySpace page. It says they are “like Blondie dry-humping Gwen Stefani in the backseat of Billy Idol’s car.” And that is really all you need to know. I would probably skip the cover of DEVO’s “Girl U Want” if I were you, though.
