Robinn: Multiphonia

Robinn isn’t exactly breaking boundaries on his debut album, Multiphonia. In fact, the London-based Frenchman deals in smoky, introspective, brooding electronic music that recalls King Midas Sound or Massive Attack. But he adds enough broken beats and dubstep-inspired touches to keep things fresh enough. Nathaniel Pearn, who himself records under then name Natural Self, adds his agreeably weary crooning to six tracks including the modulating, almost somnambulant highlight “All That Will Remain”. Music for late, late nights and the mornings after.
