The Tree People: Human Voices

The Tree People
Guerssen

The Tree People come with plenty of classic folk credibility, if not much name recognition. Formed in the 1970s, the band released its highly influential eponymous debut in 1979. Five years later, Human Voices was released only on cassette, and the band’s psychedelic take on folk was, for the most part, lost. While the Tree People might have influenced modern luminaries like Sufjan Stevens and Band of Horses, it’s impossible to deny that its sound has not aged well, and this reissue is for die-hard folk fans only.
