Chicago R&B artist Nikki Lynette Takes Cubby Bear Lounge by Storm
Chicago hip-hop R&B singer/rapper/writer Nikki Lynette gives her last home performance before she relocates to New York City.
Nikki Lynette, a fresh faced hip-hop ingenue, has become something of a fixture on the independent Chicago hip-hop scene in recent years. Whether modeling along with her backup singers, singing a commercial jingle, writing lyrics for rap artists or interviewing people such as reggae master Sean Paul, she has her hands in all aspects of the entertainment medium. Her songs can be found on sites like MySpace, as well as through her own website.
Her sounds are reminiscent of the artists that she calls her musical inspirations: OutKast, Lauryn Hill, Prince and Queen. As a result, much of her music is energetic, lively and designed to make your hips move to the beat and has a signature all its own. She breathes life and fun into her music, which can best be called hip-hop punk.
She is a Chicago native and will be performing one last time at the Cubby Bear on August 27th before she relocates to New York City to record a full length studio album.
Cubby Bear is located at 1059 W. Addison Street in Chicago. Doors open at 9:30pm and there is no cover. You must be 21 and up for entry.
Here is a sample of what you will hear at the show, which SHOULD NOT be missed.
