Scott Warren’s first full-length, Quick Fix Bandage, is full of safe, impersonal folk-rock tunes meant to break your heart or at least make it hurt a tiny bit. Unfortunately, Warren and company are faithfully following a script written by a long line of male singer-songwriters, such as Pete Yorn, Ryan Adams, or even Tom Petty, who are doing little to distinguish themselves. If you are a fan of these artists, then Quick Fix Bandage might momentarily satisfy, but don’t expect to be wowed. Warren with his wobbly voice sings radio-friendly songs about such familiar themes as heartbreak, loss, and regret backed by an adequate band who does its job of staying faithful to the folk-pop script. You know the drill. Most of this record lacks imaginative moments to keep, let alone deserve, your interest. Move on.
