As the guitarist for UK post-punk pioneers Wire, Bruce Gilbert compressed rhythms into tense, sharp spurts that revolutionized the sound of modern rock. As a solo artist, he utilized that same sense of imagination and adventure to the concept of ambient music. In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Editions Mego delivers this beautiful sounding reissue of Gilbert’s 1984 debut masterstroke, originally released on Mute. Remastered by multimedia sound sculptor Russell Haswell, the new version of This Way marks the first time this album has been released in its originally intended form in the United States, and remains as stunning and epic a drone poem as it was back when Gilbert initially recorded it.
