Allegaeon hails from Fort Collins, Colorado, playing melodic death metal that also takes hints from technical death metal and black metal. Vocalist Ezra Haynes is a dead ringer for Shagrath of Dimmu Borgir for much of the album, which is always a good place to start for any band's sound. Guitarists Ryan Glisan and Greg Burgess definitely take inspiration from Into Eternity mastermind Tim Roth, with a healthy dose of Despised Icon included in the mix. Allegaeon fits in nicely with the young melodic death metal scene emerging in the U.S., adding a darker, more complex edge to a cohort that includes Woe of Tyrants, Wretched, and Conducting from the Grave. If you've been impressed by any of these artists, then Allegaeon deserves your immediate attention.
