No BS! Brass flaunts a ten member lineup that remains tight as a knot. The third album, simply titled No BS!, is short on surprises but high on funk and fun. However, James Brown never hired a horn section to challenge people, and No BS! Brass is the type of band that can put most frat party bands to shame with impeccable chops.

Members’ insistence on approaching their collective as a rock band seems to have served them well, since musicianship and groove are mixed with equal measure. Solos fly from trombonists, trumpeters and saxophonists alike, but none of them come remotely close to overboard wanking. The climaxes are saved for group interaction, when every horn hits full throttle alongside vocals being screeched out of a bullhorn. No BS indeed. And how many albums references both Megaman and the second Star Trek film while covering Agent Orange?
