Singer-songwriter crafts an album to be seen and not heard.
On the US side of the Atlantic, Allie Moss is perhaps best known as Ingrid Michaelson's guitarist, although she had something of surprise UK hit last year with the track "Corner". Verdict? Moss isn't half bad, but there’s not much here that distinguishes her from a host of other singer-songwriters writing well-crafted albeit forgettable pop songs that wind up being used on television shows and in commercials. Even the much-hyped and fairly clever "Melancholy Astronautic Man" fades quickly from memory thanks to excessive production that obscures anything approaching originality lurking in the shadows. It's not Moss's fault, but her name will have to carry the blame.
