Guti: Patio De Juegos

Patio De Juegos – “playground” en Espanol, gringo – creator Guti is called a “national rock ‘n’ roll hero in his native Argentina”, but when searching his name, all Google can come up with is a fecund footballer from Spain and the Punjab word for “bitch”. Hometown hero or not, Guti’s debut isn’t much more than highly functional background noise for bars and storefronts, so anonymity is more its style anyway. Patio calls itself “jazz-infused”. This means, as it always does, that sly keyboards and exasperatingly constant house rhythms join forces to sex you up as robotically as possible, and not that anything that makes jazz interesting, such as improvisation, dynamism or irregularity, is in any way present. Hardly unpleasant, even sometimes halfway compelling (the dexterously complicated “Lucio El Anarquista” comes to mind) but like most playgrounds, Patio De Juegos is just like any other.
