Ancient VVisdom: A Godlike Inferno

These days, in the world of gothic/doom rock and metal, most bands are all about getting more progressive, more intricate, and more complicated, in order to stay relevant. With such a philosophy, it’s easy to forget that simplicity can be the best policy. Texas-based group Ancient VVisdom is one of the few bands sticking with the basics, and it works well for them. Their debut album A Godlike Inferno has the same dark atmosphere of newer Paradise Lost, but without any of the frills that other gothic/doom bands throw into their music. Their no-nonsense gothic rock is short and to the point, making it much easier to get hooked into the music. Hopefully, Ancient VVisdom will be able to influence other bands to try a less complex gothic sound.
