Game Brothas would like you to be aware of the following: They are physically attractive. They enjoy ingesting various substances at a wide range of establishments catering to a nighttime clientele. They own a large number of expensive consumer goods. They live in California. They are attracted to a certain type of woman who, more often than not, feels the reciprocal attraction toward each of them to a degree which is, in most cases, irresistible.
To call these guys “throwbacks” is to miss the point: Game Brothas, and their presumed fans, are the sort of guys who never got past the early-’90s West Coast party-vibe type of hip hop. They never left, so can they be said to be throwing anything back? It’s almost a metaphysical question, which is pretty much the last thing expected from a crew whose ouevre includes such though-provoking nuggets as “Sleep Wit’ a Rapper” and “The Panty Droppa.”
If you like big, fat beats — or is it phat beats? — and dumber-than-dirt lyrics about, you know, “hos”, and clubs, and shit, this might your new favorite album. Even a middle aged white guy from Connecticut can enjoy this in a certain kind of “turn your brain off” way. And hey, the fuzz guitars on “PGA” are geniunely pretty rawking. All together now, switch off your logic switch and sing along with the chorus: “I just want pretty girls and some alcohol…”
