Lianne La Havas: Lost and Found

Lianne La Havas
Lost and Found
Labour of Love
2011-10-18

Lianne La Havas has garnered comparisons to Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Nina Simone — not bad for an artist just making her debut. La Havas has an understated vocal style that calls to mind Astrud Gilberto and a songwriting style reminiscent of Court and Spark-era Joni Mitchell. Each of the five tracks here are radio-ready, whether it’s the sleepy opening number “No Room For Doubt” (featuring Willy Mason), the whimsical “Age” or the Everything Everything cover “Final Form”. Armed with material that strong and performances that are wonderfully haunting one can only imagine what might happen once La Havas unleashes a full-length.
