Butterfly Boucher: Butterfly Boucher

Described as smart indie pop with alt rock muscle, Butterfly Boucher’s music is just that –– with touches of dance music (“5678!”) and dirtier, more austere elements (“The Weather”, “I Wanted to Be the Sun”). Boucher is just at home with the dark, dusty ballad (“Warning Bell”) as she is with slow building burner (“The Weather”). It’s hard to know whether Boucher was entirely made for these times –– the record doesn’t sound dated as much as it does sound like a throwback to a purer, more song-driven era –– but one of the record’s charms is that you don’t have to think to hard. You can let go and just feel.
