Uncle Mountain: Miles of Skyline

Asheville, North Carolina’s Uncle Mountain peels off an impressive debut––a record that’s authentic in its aspirations and admirable in its authenticity. Songwriting comes to the fore immediately with “False Alarm”, “My Last Song To My First Love”, and “Real Live Liar”. (When’s the last time you were reminded of the Beach Boys this much whilst listening to what is, ostensibly, an Americana album?) One imagines that Uncle Mountain must know how to tear the roof off a live venue and if that energy doesn’t necessarily translate to record, that’s forgivable. This seems like a pretty good introduction to a pretty good American band. Let’s hear more of this. And soon.
