Blue Foundation rose to prominence by virtue of song placements in TV shows like The OC, So You Think You Can Dance, and CSI: Miami as well as films -- most notably, the Twilight series. Looking at that list alone, their commercial appeal should be obvious instantaneously, but it also suggests that they still leave some hoping for traces of genuine heart. Those traces do exist and when they emerge, they're the record's most achingly beautiful moments, though sadly, there aren't too many of them. For the most part of In My Mind, I Am Free Blue Foundation is more than content to play it cautious and safe. This is a very conventional LP that has moments of inspiration and genuine heart, but it can never sustain them. All in all, it's worth a listen, but not too much more than that.
