Jonathan Caouette’s latest film Walk Away Renee documents his trip to move his mentally ill mother across the country. It's a means of delving into the mother/son relationship, with glimpses into the past through the prism of the present. Music montages, real juxtaposed with imaginary scenes, and trippy bits paint a portrait of love and sacrifice. Caouette says, Walk Away Renee was developed from equal parts love, sweat, humility and pure happenstance. I am ecstatic that people will now be able to see what I consider the final version of this film.” The movie premiered at Cannes in 2011 and will have its North American premiere on 27 June with a screening at BAMcinemaFest as well as on SundanceNOW’s SVOD (Subscriber Video-on-Demand) program Doc Club. Today we bring you an exclusive clip from the film, as well as a set of stills.
