Shake the Baron: Ghost Hits

Shake the Baron
Ghost Hits
super duper

Ghost Hits doesn’t find Shake the Baron succumbing to a sophomore slump, instead strengthening the elements that made their self-titled debut so winsome. This time around, the songwriting’s a bit sharper, the melodies and arrangements a bit more impressive, and the overall sound more complete. While all of that still doesn’t manage to add up to a truly great record, Ghost Hits flashes of brilliance make it very clear that an unquestionably great record is not out of their grasp. That being said, if the band were to release a few more records that draw even to Ghost Hits, I’ll still be purchasing their material. Shake the Baron is a band with a tight grasp on dynamic songwriting and Ghost Hits prove it. Don’t be surprised if you start hearing their name more sometime soon.
