Art of Losses is yet another incredibly strong release for a band with an arsenal already full of them.
After winning audiences over and getting critical raves on the summer festival circuit early on, the Blakes dropped their heavily anticipated Art of Losses and satisfied every expectation. This is another tremendous effort from the Seattle-based power trio. There's a youthful exuberance that sidles up to an appreciation for the past and a sharp focus on staying themselves. That combination is a refreshing one that too many buzzed-about bands lose sight of at the first sign of the breakthrough. Fortunately, the Blakes' momentum has been building steadily and stealthily for years. Art of Losses is only the most recent culmination point. The Blakes relocated to Maine to record Art of Losses. The rural knock-on effect is apparent and only strengthens the songs, the set as a whole, and suggests the band has staying power. I'll be along for the ride.
