White Lung: Sorry

White Lung's found a certain punk fury that works, and have kept with it for their sophomore record.

White Lung set the Canadian punk scene on fire with their first album, a take-no-prisoners sneer called It's the Evil. They're back with Sorry, an unapologetic follow-up that sticks with what works. Mish Wray's back hating herself first and you second, Anne-Marie Vassilou's drums sound as unstoppable as ever. When firing on alll cylinders, like on "Glue", White Lung perfectly splits the difference between what dance kids and hardcore kids need for their respective mosh pits: fuck-you levels of sarcasm, delivered hard and fast.

A few tracks in, though, everything starts to sound the same. White Lung's found something that works, but they need to build on that instead of spinning the same wheels. Of course, the whole album is under twenty minutes, so the repetitiveness doesn't prove irksome. Solid foundations aren't the worst problems a band can have, but without anything else they're a problem all the same.
