A dazzling mixture of T. Rex and basement punk styling, Butter may provide the most listening fun you'll have all year.
For their third full-length, Turbo Fruits step things up and continue to have their own brand of reckless auditory partying. Turbo Fruits have been on my radar ever since coming across their name on a flyer for a $10 triple bill in Madison, WI. I had no idea who they were at the time but the name stuck with me. I looked them up and was completely won over by their deft combination of new and classic influence. A few years later, they'd get a small push into the limelight with a feature spot in the film Whip It. Their discography's been a bit erratic in quality so there was some initial concern after hearing about Butter. I shouldn't have been worried, this is one of the most joyous rock n roll records that 2012 has had to offer. Butter not only betters their signature sound, it finally makes it sound concise. These are perfect half-drunk full-blown basement party songs. Pick it up and fall in love with rock n roll again.
