Hollis Brown – ‘Nightfall’ (video) (PopMatters Premiere)

Hollis Brown may be New York through and through, but they trekked to Nashville — like so many artists these days — to find their true musical soul. As you can here from “Nightfall”, their classic rock ‘n’ roll takes on an Americana tinge in the home of the Grand Ole Opry, all suffused with laid-back grooves evocative of gentle, Southern climes. The band’s latest album, Ride on the Train released earlier this month via Alive Records.

‘Nightfall’ is Hollis Brown’s latest single, which band member Mike Montali says is “about the bond I have with my father since my mother’s passing, about the natural evolution of all relationships, and how a true connection perseveres through it all. It’s the only song I’ve ever written while crying.” Meanwhile the Kloons’s Greg Washburn, who directed the video says, “The opportunity to create visual imagery around such fun music is an absolute blast. The Kloons are very proud of ‘Nightfall’ and hope you enjoy the exquisite choreography of Anna Schnaitter.”
