Widowspeak - "True Believer" (stream)

Widowspeak's dreamy, Americana-woven indie rock continues its evolution on this hazy single.

Since making their mark with the addictive, immediate and undeniably Mazzy Star-indebted "Harsh Realm", Widowspeak have gone janglier and introduced a more analog, folksy side to their smoky, "rural dream pop" sound.

If David Lynch and Mark Frost's groundbreaking Twin Peaks had seen a third season, "True Believer" is the sort of song that might have soundtracked a deep woods dream sequence or a Black Lodge dance number. Its unrushed, easy charm is hypnotizing, and the slight edge of darkness to it only makes it that much more captivating.

The Swamps EP releases October 29th via Captured Tracks.

Over the Rainbow: An Interview With Herb Alpert

Music legend Herb Alpert discusses his new album, Over the Rainbow, maintaining his artistic drive, and his place in music history. "If we tried to start A&M in today's environment, we'd have no chance. I don't know if I'd get a start as a trumpet player. But I keep doing this because I'm having fun."
