Albany's Titanics cover Rhye's "Open", giving some noir flourishes to the already seductive tune.
The song is called “Open”, and it’s an apt description for the direct romantic sentiment and airy music composing it. In the hands of Albany indie pop duo Titanics, the Rhye cover keeps the original’s tone of wounded seduction, but with a more noir flavor. Spacey and minimalistic at first, its momentum builds in cinematic fashion as the instrumentation adds more components. It’s one helluva sexy groove, one to accompany a 2 a.m. seduction, and a damn fine follow-up to their debut LP, Soft Treasure, released earlier this year.
