Like the blues, traditional rock ‘n’ roll remains a great musical building block and form. It’ll never be out of date. Mount Carmel shows their devotion to the crunchy riff on “Back on It”, a smokin’ tune from their upcoming album, Get Pure. Mount Carmel bass player Pat Reed tells us about “Back on It”: “The song was built off of the riff. A simple driving riff. The vocals aren’t very complex either. About the repeated monotony of trying to be a man. The song is based off of feeling. Theres a looseness to it. We try to run away from any intellectual complexities that could contribute to a song becoming too narcissistic.”
Mount Carmel’s Get Pure will be released on CD, digital formats and limited edition vinyl on March 25th via Alive Naturalsound Records.
