Misner and Smith – “Seven Hour Storm” (video) (Premiere)

Folkie duo Misner and Smith released their latest album, Seven Hour Storm, last fall and now they have a brand new video for the title track.

“Seven Hour Storm” showcases Misner and Smith‘s killer harmonies and gentle folk-pop aesthetic. Here the group tells us all about one of their signature tunes:

“For us this song is about straddling two different worlds simultaneously, the past and the present. It’s about the mystery of how memories change over time and how we as human beings experience the longing of nostalgia. Working with Deb Tullmann we wove images of childhood together with impressions of being older and looking back. Sometimes through reflection you catch a moment of meeting yourself for the first time, this song is about that moment.

“While we were recording this album the image of that ‘Seven Hour Storm’ came to be a sort of metaphor for the creative process as a whole. We felt the excitement, the risk, and the possibility while we navigated our way through that storm. When you’re creating something from scratch you never know how everything is going to turn out and there’s no map. You just have to trust in the creative process and rely on your instincts. In a way that seems like a larger metaphor for life as a whole.”
