ETERNAL LIPS – “Voice” (video) (Premiere)

Brooklyn's ETERNAL LIPS (aka Grey Gersten) teams with TV on the Radio's Kyp Malone for a live performance of "Voice" from ETERNAL LIPS' new self-titled EP.

This live version of “Voice” without overdubs, edits or studio enhancements is a shimmering, ethereal song, filled with gentle electronic flourishes and a dreamy vibe. Gersten told us that he views recording and live performance quite differently. “Records are like movies and Live Shows are like theatre. Our album has all the beautiful textures and effects that the recording process allows but why try and re-create that for a live performance? In this live video we have a foot tapping instead of a million dollar drum machine. The directness and intimacy offers a different view of the song.”

Grey Gersten toured the USA, Brazil, and Columbia as a duo with Kyp Malone in Rain Machine. They played everywhere from tiny DIY punk clubs in Sao Paulo to Carnegie Hall. Gersten explains, “I love playing with Kyp, his voice is one of the most mystical instruments I’ve encountered. It opens up another world. Our first rehearsal was 13 hours long, mostly in complete darkness. It prepared me for all the adventures that followed.”
