Take a jazzy vibe and marry it to electronic beats and some Latin funk, horns and all, and you start to approximate Cilantro Boombox‘s sound. The group was originally founded by bassist/DJ/producer Félix Pacheco and saxophonist/flutist Joe Woullard as they collaborated in a session and then stuck together and eventually added six new members. Cilantro Boombox’s 2012 debut is available below via Spotify, but today we bring you the premiere of the B-side, “Lluvia”, of their new single “Fears Away”.
Pacheco tells us, “we feel ‘Lluvia’ packages the whole Cilantro Boombox sound in under five minutes. There’s a heavy electronic beat, a Latin-driven house rhythm, Spanglish lyrics and heavy synths and in your face horns. It has a balance of electronic and organic that we always aim for.”
