Authentic, flavorful roots reggae from Israel.
Zvuloon Dub System claim they are "Israel’s leading World-Reggae band". On the basis of Anbessa Dub, their second album, one is inclined to take them at their word. This is more lax, subtle, roots-style dub than the crazy, psychedelic reverb-fests associated with most modern dub.
That's not a problem, though, as solid rhythms, bright horns, groovy Vox organ, and, on several tracks, groovy outer-space effects hold your attention. These are vocal tracks, as well, and the Amheric-language singing may take some getting used to. The payoff, especially on the haunting, chant-like "Yene Almaz", is rewarding.
