If one believes the band’s press materials, the shadowy Swedish music collective Goat hails from Korpilombolo, a locality in the municipality of Pajala in Northern Sweden. It is highly probable that the group does come from there, but given its devotion to anonymity, they could just as easily live on another planet. Based on the sound of Goat’s otherworldly psychedelic hodgepodge, the notion that the collective occupies another terrestrial realm is just as likely.
Following 2012’s World Music, which brought Goat significant international attention, the band has recently announced that LP’s followup, the appropriately named Commune. The first track to drop from Commune is the brief teaser “Words”, which features a tantalizing psychedelic mood and a guitar solo that fans of the recent occult rock revival will be sure to find satisfying.
Commune is out on September 23rd through Sub Pop.
