Sleepless Inn – “Escalators” (audio) (Premiere)

Detroit duo craft a tapestry of lush dream pop and supple vocals in new single, "Escalators".

Lush production and silken vocals coalesce in a trippy brand of dream pop with Detroit duo Sleepless Inn. The former is the product of aural architect Eddie Logix; the latter emanates from the pipes of Laura Finlay and her chanteuse-like approach. That dichotomy is in full display in new single “Escalators”, the follow up to debut EP The Rainbow Room, released in April.

Logix’s layered textures meld together to form a surreal flowing river of sound, his beats both crackling and fluidly cascading. As such, the swaying tempo is a suitable tapestry for Finlay’s supple vocals to flit about on. Ethereal and entrancing, the tune affords listeners a levitating experience.

“We began working on ‘Escalators’ right after the completion of our debut,” Logix said. “After playing the song live at various shows we decided to finish and release it as a continuation of the EP as well as a preview to what we are working on for the next project.”

“Escalators” is available on Sleepless Inn’s Bandcamp page and iTunes on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
