"Laughing Girl" finds the Florida psych-rockers Sunbears! trading off between loud guitar riffs and lo-fi vocal passages.
The Jacksonville, Florida based group that calls itself Sunbears! (yep, exclamation point included) is set to release its new LP, Future Sounds in the coming month. Having already premiered the tune "Now You're Gone", these psychedelic rockers are offering up another track off the record, "Laughing Girl", which you can stream below. Featuring a striking contrast between huge, driving guitar riffs and lo-fi vocal production in the verses, the song operates on a key contrast that plays upon the highs and lows of its lyrical matter.
The band tells PopMatters about the song's lyrics: "'Laughing Girl' is about a girl that hides her emotions from everyone else around her. Instead of dealing with her issues, she just goes out, drinks, get's high, laughs, and has sex. But no one knows how sad she really is. She puts on a good show.
"We all kinda deal with that kinda same stuff, but maybe in different ways. She just needs to be true to herself, sit down and have a good heart-to-heart with her best friend. I know that always works for me!"
Future Sounds is out on November 11th through New Granada.
