With his new self-titled album, Wade Bowen has made what he calls "the record to start the next phase of my career."
Already an established player in the diverse Texas country scene, Wade Bowen is bound to garner a lot more attention following the release of his new self-titled LP. As he told Rolling Stone back in August, "I've always tried really hard to make sure my music is not just a regional thing." Wade Bowen is certainly not a region-specific LP; any fan of true country music from Bakersfield to Nashville will find plenty to like amongst the twelve tunes of Bowen's new record.
Bowen tells PopMatters about the album, "In a career with ups and downs, I felt like I needed to hit the reset button. That's what this record feels like - the record to start the next phase of my career. It's nice to make a record with no rules, not worrying about how long each song was, or what's said or how weird it gets. It was nice just to make music for the right reasons and just have fun with it. Hopefully people will enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it."
Wade Bowen is out tomorrow, October 28th, on AMP.
