Geir Jenssen, aka Biosphere, has teamed up with Helge Sten, aka Deathprod, to make a full-length equivalent of a split 7-inch. Each Norwegian electronic artist gets roughly 20 minutes to state his case on Stator, an album named after the piece of an engine that holds still while running. Jenssen goes for the peaceful and contemplative on “Muses-C”, “Baud”, and “Space Is Fizzy”. Meanwhile, Sten plunges the depths of what discomfort can be found in the quiet on “Shimmer/Flicker”, “Polychromatic”, “Disc”, and “Optical”.

Deathprod’s end results may be more confrontational than Biosphere’s, but that doesn’t mean that Sten is more of a unique force than Jenssen. They’re both perfectly twisted and Stator enjoys a healthy balance of the two while remaining a strongly cohesive album.
