Double Duchess' electro/hip-hop banger is loaded with raucous originals and one stunning cover.
The brainchild of producer David “DavO” Richardson and singer Krylon Superstar, San Francisco queer electro/hip-hop duo Double Duchess are set to release their debut full-length All Eyes on Me next week. A raucous, pulsating mix of brisk beats and minimalist arrangements, the record is a reflection of their renowned live show, and is highlighted by a stunning, murky cover of Grace Jones’s classic 1980 song “Bullshit”. We’re very pleased to premiere the new album here, which you can stream in its entirety below.
“All Eyes on Me is our first full length release, and in many ways a transitional record for us,” Richardson tells PopMatters. “It encapsulates the hip-hop based sounds that are vey much the fun, party, and classic DD material, but also begins to show a more moody and heavier produced side for us. Tracks like ‘Bullshit’ highlight a direction that we anticipate the project moving into, while tracks like ‘Twinkle’ are the booty jams and vibes that we initially broke out with. I think this is our best work to date."
All Eyes on Me will be released 14 July.
