China Forbes – “The Northern Line” (video) (premiere)

The talented singer-songwriter gets personal in this new track for her sister's feature film.

Pink Martini frontwoman China Forbes has written and recorded a song for a film, but not just any movie. Rather, her sister Maya wrote and directed the critically acclaimed new film Infinitely Polar Bear, starring Mark Rufallo and Zoe Saldana, which is based on the sisters’ life with their manic depressive father. The song itself is a sweet, gentle little tune, and Forbes was intent on making both the track and the accompanying video as personal as possible.

“I wanted to make a video for ‘The Northern Line’ that captures the essence of home and family,” Forbes says. “It was filmed on location at my house with a very small crew and a cameo by my son who is named after my father. I painted my nails yellow the way I did when I was four years old and played my son’s ukulele on which I wrote the song. It’s a song about family and struggles and love and the power of home My sister’s film Infinitely Polar Bear is a gorgeous tribute to my parents and what they went through and what they sacrificed. Through all of the chaos and strife what we ultimately discover both in the film and in real life, is that love is what matters most and love is what endures.”

The Infinitely Polar Bear Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is out now on Lakeshore Records.
