Seth Glier – “It’s a Bitch! (Craigslist)” (audio) (premiere)

Who says an activist singer-songwriter can't be funny?

A winner of the Independent Music Award for Best Social Action Song, Seth Glier isn’t exactly known for cute comedy songs. On a whim he wrote one with his pal, based on a “mostly true” story about a breakup and a woman selling her ex’s furniture on Craigslist, and as you can hear in this exclusive live performance, it is pure gold.

“I wrote the Craigslist song on a two day write in New Jersey with my dear friend and co-writer Steve Seskin,” Glier says. “The first day I met Steve at his hotel in Flemington, New Jersey and told him that an ex-girlfriend of mine (who was very upset) started to sell my furniture on Craigslist. We had a good laugh and then sat down to write a serious song that I’ve still never recorded to date. When I knocked on Steve’s hotel room door the following day he was already singing the chorus of what became “Craigslist” to me. I have to admit I was a little reluctant to ‘go there’ since most of my music doesn’t air on the comedy side but I trusted Steve and we laughed the entire time writing it. It was cathartic and a real thrill to sing live now. This live recording was captured at the Ark in Ann Arbor, Michigan on our CD release Tour last April. It features Marc Seedorf on Bass and Joe Nerney on Saxophone.”

Seth Glier’s latest album If I Could Change One Thing is out now.
