Fiona Grey – “What You Want” (video) (premiere)

The young pop artist shows maturity in the video for her terrific new single.

Having shared the stage with the likes of Charli XCX and Foals, Fiona Grey proved a very worthy young pop talent on her 2014 EP Belladonna. On her brand new single “What You Want” she shows impressive maturity, her restrained performance meshing well with the darker dance pop arrangement, and that sultry, adult aesthetic is enhanced even more by a gorgeously shot new video for the track, which you can watch below.

“I am so happy to share my new single ‘What You Want’ with PopMatters,” says Grey. “I wrote this song like a diary entry for all the words I wished I had the guts to say but never got a chance to express. The lyric ‘Hey You’ was one of the first lines I wrote, it was based on that idea of waking someone up and trying to get them to understand your side of the story. I love pop music because it’s a great way for me to make music my fans can dance to but also get things off my chest.

“I wanted the video to be very stylistic and to tell the story of this song in a very 1970’s Los Angeles sultry fashion. I feel so honored to work with some of my favorite people for this music video. It was creative directed by Mikal Sky, styled by Alexandra Mandelkorn, and directed by Jake Sarfaty.”

“What You Want” is out today. Purchase it at iTunes.
