Mix modern electropop with a shameless mid-'80s aesthetic, and you'll get this sparkling new track.
Loaded with the kind of sparking, massive hooks that will remind many of the more pop-oriented side of the new romantic scene 30 years ago, Patternist's new single "New Fashion" is shamelessly wide-eyed. Irresistibly so. The brainchild of Portland musician Gabe Mouer, Patternist is in the process of releasing new tracks from its second EP on a month-by-month basis, with a full release later this year.
"'New Fashion' is a song about escaping life's ill-defined pressures, how having someone to share in those experiences can keep you looking up and moving forward," Mouer says. "Lyrically, I wanted to keep it simple and fairly transparent. It was recorded mostly in my bedroom with lead vocals and drums being done in studio."
