Wizaard – “Mountain of the Underground” (audio) (premiere)

The Montreal band returns with a new track that gives Tame Impala a run for their money.

With its Can-derived krautrock groove, wicked stoner rock guitar riff, slight hint of funk, and washes of keyboards weirdly similar to chillwave, Montreal band Wizaard shows one and all on their new single “Mountain of the Underground” that there’s no limit to what they’ll try. Besides, with a combination like that, how can you not dig it?

“It’s been a long time since we’ve released new music, so we’re really excited to blast out these new sounds out to the ones wanting to listen to and enjoy something visceral,” the band says. “‘Mountain of the Underground’ encompasses a lot of what we’ve been through musically, the past couple of years. It’s all about layers and build-ups and timing. This song is just one piece to this big puzzle we’ve been creating together, so expect an interesting trip coming your way.”
