3hattrio – “Get on the Bus” (audio) (premiere)

Cowboy poetry and desert-inspired music make this Utah band unique in the Americana scene.

Led by cowboy poetry scholar Hal Cannon and hailing from the Zion National Park region of Utah, 3hattrio create what they call “American desert music”, in which they create country music directly inspired and influenced by the desert environment around them. Their new album Dark Desert Night, which comes out today, sees them continuing to refine that distinct, forlorn sound, which you can hear vividly on the beautiful track “Get on the Bus”.

“I see the sunshine blazin’ it’s own sweet way,” Greg Istock sings at one point. “And I watch the young girls on their horses / They would love to ride them all day.”

“We all have unlimited distractions until we see life lived with pure joy and fun,” Cannon says about the track. “Encountering a group of young girls living in the moment, riding their horse with abandon can and should jolt us out of our distracted world.”
