Broken Bellows – “In the Deep” (video) (premiere)

Ethereal electropop melds with pop punk sentiment on Broken Bellows' "In the Deep".

Broken Bellows is a band that’s become known for fusing electronic production with a punk sentiment. Comprised of Cory Brent and Will Prinzi, the duo actually was a part of the pop punk band Reckless Serenade.

While they were traveling between venues during the Vans Warped Tour of 2016, they were producing beats together and working on what would eventually become their primary project with Broken Bellows’ The Card Table EP.

These days, Brent and Prinzi are hard at work with the development of music videos reflecting each of the five songs present on that EP. The latest is “In the Deep”, a floaty pop song about being in over your head for someone you’ve fallen in love with.

Brent says, “‘In the Deep’ is about falling so helplessly in love with someone that you’re practically drowning. The chorus starts with the lyrics, ‘Save me please, I’m sinking in your sea, can’t get my head on straight, my mind at ease.’ It really describes that feeling of being in over your head — you just can’t stop thinking about someone — it’s equal parts maddening and addicting.”

“I think the video plays well with the song. Both Will and I love The Sandlot, and the whole song gives out a strong underwater theme (especially once the bridge hits) so to see the unlikely pairing between our song and such a funny and memorable scene is actually really awesome.”
