Dave Stewart - "Drugs Taught Me a Lesson" (Lyric Video) (PopMatters Premiere)

On Monday, we premiered Dave Stewart's new tune "Nashville Snow" from his new album Lucky Numbers and now we bring you a fresh album cut, "Drugs Taught Me a Lesson".

"Drugs Taught Me a Lesson" is a deeply personal song for Dave Stewart as he struggled with addiction in the past and has come out happy and healthy on the other side. This cautionary tale isn't the least bit preachy, it's simply a man taking real pleasure in his freedom from drugs and the return of his real self. Stewart explains, "the song is self explanatory, I nearly died a couple of times, Annie [Lennox] saved me once, I'm very excited to be alive." That joy for life is evident in the song's funky refrains and is infectious. We love you, Dave, and it's great to have you back better than ever.

Over the Rainbow: An Interview With Herb Alpert

Music legend Herb Alpert discusses his new album, Over the Rainbow, maintaining his artistic drive, and his place in music history. "If we tried to start A&M in today's environment, we'd have no chance. I don't know if I'd get a start as a trumpet player. But I keep doing this because I'm having fun."
